New Executive

We have a new UMAE Executive team!  We had 1 nomination for each position, therefore those people won by acclamation.  Please join us in welcoming:

• Carla Loewen (Indigenous Student Centre) - Membership Chair

Welcome back!

We hope everyone had a great summer and is ready to tackle another academic year!

As we discussed at the last general meeting, this fall Christine Adams will be completing her 2 year term and will be ending her time as President of the UMAE Exec.  The current Vice-President (Kristin Suffield) will be moving into the President position.  This means we have some electing to do!

Being a part of the UMAE  Executive is a great opportunity to get some committee experience, network and be a part of the future of Academic Advising on campus.  We hope you consider joining our team!

The positions up for election are:

- Vice-President (2 year term, followed by 2 years as President = 4 years total)
- Membership Chair (2 year term)
- Communications Chair (2 year term)

We will be putting out the call for nominations in a few weeks, so start thinking if you would be interested in putting your name forward.  Elections will happen in early October, with the deadline being the next General Meeting.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the current UMAE exec.

NACADA Region 6 Conference - Omaha, Nebraska

The NACADA Region 6 Conference is happening May 11 - 13, 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska!

A tentative schedule is posted on the conference website, with registration and hotel information.  Register by April 11, 2016 for a discounted rate!

This is a great opportunity for some professional development.  Check out the website for all of the details.  Let us know if you plan on attending!
